Rapid Serial Visual Presentation - A study Aid
An electronic version of skimming, RSVP is a way of browsing data in an e book or on a web page.
Words are displayed in short chunks of text in rapid succession and the user can determine the speed and size of the text being displayed.
This speed reading technique requires software much of which is freely available on the Internet.
Why use the tool?
We can quickly gain an overall impression of what the book or text is about,and how its is constructed. When researching or studying we aim to seek out only the data or information we require from a page filled with hundreds of words. Most of the text serves no purpose other than to join sentences to fill up a body of work.
We don't always need these 'filler' words to get the point or understand the message in the text. RSVP is a valuable tool to assist us to move rapidly through the text and pick out important information related to our desired learning outcomes.
Chunking
